Walter Coppage has appeared at The Kansas CityRepertory Theatre, The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, The St. LouisBlack Repertory Theatre, The Coterie Theatre and The Unicorn Theatre. Some favorite roles include: The StageManager in Our Town; Bob Crachit in A Christmas Carol;Pee Wee in Carter’s Way; Sterling in Permanent Collection; Eugene in Yellowman; the title role in Othello; Jekyll in the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde; Touchstone in As You Like It; Uncle Peck in How I Learned To Drive; TestifierPolyneices in The Gospel at Colonus; LeonTrotsky in All in the Timing andProf. Walden in Frankenstein. He is a founding member of theacclaimed, Actors Theatre of KC.
Not limited to the stage, Walter has also won principal roles in feature film and television, including the lead in the award winning, James Ellroy’s Stay Clean, the mini series Gone In The Night (CBS), TheOnly Witness (Lifetime) More thanPuppylove (Showtime), A Deadly Vision (ABC), and the indies Suspension, Raising Jeffery Dahmer, and All Roads Lead Home. He was hand picked by director FrankPierson (Cool Hand Luke) to appear in Truman(HBO). He recently completed filming the features, The Only Good Indian and Last Ounce of Courage.
He has also been featured in or voiced numerous national and regional TV and radiocommercials and, for 12 years, was the spokesperson for ChildrenInternational.
Aspecialty of his is symphonic concert narration. His concert appearances alongside the Kansas City Symphony,St. Joseph Symphony, Heartland Men’s Chorus and others include the programs And Justice For All, The Halloween Spooktacular, The Magic of Christmas and 2001; A Symphonic Odyssey (NASA). He hasperformed readings of Lincoln’s Portrait,The Creation, The Lord of the Rings, Peter and the Wolf, Carnivalof the Animals, Holst’s The Planets,A Christmas Carol, and even singing, You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch!
