Lauded as "consistently compelling and cliche-avoidant" by The Chicago Tribune, Tanya McBride is known for mastering a variety of roles. She was last seen in “punkplay” at the Steppenwolf Garage Rep, in which she played a French-Canadian runaway, an apocalyptic punk, and a seductive Ronald Reagan.
Tanya credits her versatility to her training. She received her M.F.A. in Acting/New Works Creation at Ohio State University where she studied with professionals such as SITI Company, Royal Court Theatre, and Goat Island. Tanya specializes in movement for the stage, with strengths in Viewpoints, Suzuki, Laban, and dance.
Tanya continues to take on-camera and theatre workshops, and trains weekly with fellow Suzuki/Viewpoints enthusiasts. This spring she is travelling to New York to study with the experimental theatre company, Elevator Repair Service.
Tanya has appeared with The Goodman Theatre, Pavement Group, Porchlight Music Theatre, The Neo-Futurists, Collaboraction, Chicago Dramatists, Polarity Ensemble, Caffeine Theatre, and Adventure Stage Chicago. When she’s not at rehearsal, you’ll probably find Tanya with her head buried in a book, or re-watching the John Lithgow season of “Dexter”.
