Rom is originally a California boy who came to Chicago byway of Montana. If that’s notconfusing, he’s also half-Iranian and doesn’t speak a word of Farsi. From here it gets easier. Rom has BS degrees in bothFilm Making and Theatre Production from Montana State University and has beenliving and acting in Chicago for just over ten years. While most of that time has been spent on the stage, he hasalso broken into television, print, voiceover and film and was recently seen onan episode of The Beast, with PatrickSwayze on A&E. He is alsoappearing in an independently produced Horror/Comedy film, TheLandlord, which will be hitting filmfestivals the summer of ‘09.
Recently Rom Understudied for Ruined, Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize winning play that wascommissioned for and produced at The Goodman Theatre. He has worked with many of the biggest and best theatres inChicago over the years, notably, Steppenwolf Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre, Lifeline, Timeline, Eclipse(company member for two years), Griffin, Vitalist, Greasy Joan (company member for two years), TrapDoor, City Lit, and Writer’s theatre.
Some of his favorite productions include Around the Worldin 80 days at Lookingglass Theatre, (to beremounted in ’09 and ’10 at both Centerstage Baltimore and The Kansas CityRep.), Mother Courage and her Children, The Three Lives of Lucie Cabrol, at Vitalist Theatre, Halcyon Days and Not About Nightingales at Timeline Theatre.
Currently Rom is cast in Steep Theatre’s, The HollowLands, by Howard Korder, which will run thesummer of ‘09 in Chicago. Videogamers might hear Rom’s voice as cult classic character, Subzero in Midway Games, Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks and Armageddon.
