Hugely in love with movies for as long as he can remember – picturing himself in roles of his favorite characters, imagining further adventures inside the worlds created on screen – Rob Fagin naturally was drawn to the Drama Club in High School.  And he has been involved with more than 40 stage productions since.

In recent years, Rob has worked in some of Chicago’s best received productions with some of the city’s most celebrated and challenging directors, including five times with nationally renowned David Cromer.  He has been called “stellar”, “emotional” and “wholly believable” by Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune (for MOJO at Mary-Arrchie Theatre and THE OVERWHELMING at Next Theatre, respectively), and “subtle, quirky” and “very natural” by the Chicago Sun-Times (for SAVED at Mary-Arrchie and PICNIC at Writers’ Theatre, respectively).  He’s been in several productions that have been noted for exceptional ensemble work, particularly THE CIDER HOUSE RULES, PARTS 1 & 2 with Famous Door Theatre (Best Production, Best Ensemble Jeff Awards), THE KENTUCKY CYCLE, PARTS 1 & 2 with Infamous Commonwealth (Best Production, Best Ensemble Jeff Citations), and WAITING FOR LEFTY with BackStage Theatre (Best Ensemble Jeff Citation nomination).

His favorite production he’s been involved with so far has been Cromer’s enormously acclaimed OUR TOWN with The Hypocrites, in which he played George Gibbs.  Chris Jones has lauded it as one of his favorite ten experiences in his years of seeing Chicago theatre, and Rob was mentioned in many reviews as a winning standout.

Currently, you can catch Rob playing the idealistic but deeply troubled title character of THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION at TimeLine Theatre.  Of Rob’s performance, Chris Jones says that he finds “arresting emotion and vulnerability”.  He was also positively reviewed by the Chicago Sun-Times, TimeOut Chicago, The Chicago Reader and The Wall Street Journal.

Rob also loves to write and direct.
