Michael Pogue is a born Chicago native raised in the historical village of Oak Park. While attending Oak Park River Forest High School, he was impressed by performance poetry and became student co-founder of their existing Spoken Word Club. Slam poetry and staged wordplay were his thresholds to the theater.
After seeing an unforgettable production of East Texas Hot Links produced by the passed Onyx Theater Ensemble in Chicago, he decided to attend Columbia College where he is a proud alumnus. He has worked with such theaters; Victory Gardens, Writer’s Theater, Steppenwolf, and various acclaimed companies. He has been nominated by the African American Arts Alliance Awards Committee for his performances in Six Degrees of Separation with Eclipse Theater and Panther Burn with MPAACT.
Michael is extremely proud to a part of the theater and writing community and has an equated love for the blues music community. He aspires to perform with renowned local blues musicians, publish his writing on this life’s journey and perform in productions worldwide.
