Marielle de Rocca-Serra was born and raised by a family of musicians in the south of France. After she received a rigorous training as a violinist in some of the best conservatory programs in Europe, she came to acting at age 17. Trained at the National School of Drama “Le Studio” in Asnieres, she got lucky enough to start working consistently as an actor in venues such as the Theatre National d’Arts et d’Essai, Theatre Georges V, Festival d’Avignon, touring in Italy, Germany, and England.
Marielle fell in love with Chicago and its stage in 2005, and joined the Acting program of the Theatre School at DePaul University a year later. Since her graduation in 2010, she could be seen as Young Alice in the acclaimed U.S. premiere of the musical “Boojum!: Truth, Nonesense, and Lewis Caroll”, and as St Louis de Marillac in the eponymous play, directed by Dexter Zollicoffer. Marielle is excited to be performing as a lead character in her first feature film this summer: Roundabout American, directed by Boris Wexler.
Marielle is also a permanent member of the Gipsy Jazz Band “Le Percolateur”, and the lead singer of the French-American Jazz band “Paris la Nuit”.
