Justin Berkobien is a testament to the prosperity of artistry in Chicago. Having been here less than three years (originally from Mid Michigan), Justin has captured opportunities to thrive as an actor, musician, and writer. Last year, he had the thrillingly awkward experience of seeing his face plastered all over Chicago busses and taxis as the frontman for Drury Lane's extremely successful rock production of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story. The title role earned Justin his Equity card and a place in Chris Jones' list of six "Hot New Faces In Chicago Theatre" (Chicago Tribune). Other theatre highlights include acting under the direction of Jim Corti (recent Jeff Award Winner) in Meet Me In St. Louis and Gary Griffin (The Color Purple; The Apple Tree) in the Chicago workshop of SAVED!. On Camera, Justin has been fortunate to gain working experience in many commercials, industrials and shorts, as well as paid training as a featured extra and stand-in among some of Film's best, including the cast and crew of The Dark Knight. But Justin's greatest passion is to create new works: he penned the award winning drama, American Son and, among other works, is co-writing a depression-era musical comedy called Public Domain with fellow Gray Talent friend, Brandon Dahlquist. He is always busy trying to sharpen his craft, and yet Justin's most treasured time is with his wife, Julie and their baby girl, Audrey... both of whom are also up and coming talents.
