Jarrod Zimmerman hails from a small town in Ohio, about 20 miles from Nowhere on your way to Someplace Else. Northwestern University, Jarrod's alma mater, was his ticket to the Chicagoland area and he has been a proud Chicagoan ever since graduating.
For the past few years, Jarrod has seized many acting opportunities that have kept him active in Chicago with companies including Marriott Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare, Northlight, American Music Theatre Project, Theatre at the Center, Provision, Porchlight and Light Opera Works. These opportunities have also taken him across the country from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin to Missouri. One of Jarrod's favorite cross-country excursions was at Lyceum Theatre in Arrow Rock, MO. He had the chance to tackle the roles of Josh in Big! the musical, Hal in Proof and Detective Sergeant Trotter in The Mousetrap.
Two summers ago, Jarrod, along with Michael Mahler, Alan Schmuckler and Blake Silver, threw together a 15-minute concept presentation of a musical show, called Boyfred. It centers on the life of a Chicago web designer named Fred (played by Jarrod), whose girlfriend joins the Peace Corps overseas, inspiring him to create a website (boyfred.com) so their circle of friends can keep in touch. The presentation found interest in LA, leading Jarrod to another exciting adventure. He is currently collaborating on Boyfred with Tommy Schlamme (Executive Producer and Director of The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Sports Night), Sony Pictures Television and ABC.
Between that, shows, acting classes and Jarrod's web design business, he is kept an active guy. Just the way he likes it.
